Josiah's trip to the pumpkin patch.

To see my son dressed up as my childhood favorite super hero brought back a ton of memories of when my parents used to dress me up for halloween. I remember being 5 years old and wearing my Superman costume to bed just because it made me feel like an actual super hero. Well I'm joining my son in dressing up as Superman once again. Even though It's been 22 years since I've been Superman the feeling remains the same.... I'm going to sleep with my costume on and this time around my mom can't make me take it off! But now to convince the wife....

Enjoya a couple of pictures of Josiah's big adventure at Pa's Pumpkin Patch in Long Beach.

Here's Josiah trying to move some pumpkins out of his way... Those pumpkins are lucky he didn't use his Super Powers at that particular moment.

Productive Monday

Today I took the initiative to come out to a little photography seminar which will teach me how to incorporate motion picture to my photo sessions. It's actually pretty cool. Can't wait to start applying this knowledge in my next shoot. Wish me luck!

Meet Sergio and Sandra

Meeting Sergio and Sandra for the first time was an absolute pleasure. They both enjoy viewing one of my all time favorite shows "Son's of Anarchy" which was the topic of many conversations (Which at times I couldn't hush about) They have the cutest little dog named Buddy who can really steal the spot light off of anyone! And Let's not forget to mention their exquisite taste in Italian Deli.
They are getting married in Dec and I have the honor of capturing their special day. We took a drive to the venue and let me tell you... It's a sight to see. They say a picture is worth a thousand words... & After seeing how these two love birds get lost in each others eyes it doesn't take a wiz to figure out that they are totally meant for each other.  Looking forward to the date and I'll leave you with some teasers from their Pre-wedding photo session. Enjoy!

Couldn't end this post without showing you Little Buddy. Isn't he precious....

Sunday Randomness!

It's always fun to go back to my hard drive to take a gander at all the images I've taken in the past. Amazing how you could live a certain feeling, emotion, moment, look back on it and say to yourself "wasn't that just yesterday'? when in reality it's been several days, months, years.... All I've got to say is treasure the moments you can cherish today and live life to the fullest.
4th of July 2011

Got a little scared at first but after a couple of loud blasts he got used to them and enjoyed the fireworks show from our front lawn.
This is Erick.. (Middle Brother) right before heading back to Northern Cali to U.C. Davis

Josiah Eating on his high chair could be a very interesting event. Gotta Love Em.

And when you ask him if he's done with what's in his mouth... this is what you get.
This is David (Youngest brother) as he helps me test out some new camera equipment. He's always a great help when it comes to providing him with a new Facebook profile picture... but he's also one excellent uncle who loves my son dearly! Gotta Love those brothers of mine...

How time goes by...

Can't belive my son is a year and a half now. Looking back at old pictures and seeing his transformation from being a new born baby to a crawler and now a full grown toddler is amazing. Next thing you know the Terrible Two's followed by Teenage years... (Maybe I'm moving way ahead of myself) but I'll continue enjoying the whole "growing up" process and see what the future holds for the Joya family.

Meet the creative side of my wife!

Mrs. Martha Joya mentioned she saw the cutest little baked goods on a certain blog called "Bakerella". After seeing how interested she was on the subject of baking, I did what I believe was the best investment EVER for my belly and got her a book called "Cake Pops".
This book is filled with ideas on baking these bite sized cakes that are mounted on a popsickle stick, decorated to your liking, and enjoyed like no other treat I've tasted before.

Once Martha recieved her book that came in the mail (Rush Delivered) we decided to not waste any time and take a little trip to "Michaels" where we purchased all the tools that are needed to make these treats.
Once she baked the cake, crumbled the cake, and shaped the cake to perfect little circles the fun began.
She melted bits of chocolate in a pan that was over another pan filled with water (allowing the steam to melt the chocolate without burning it). Popsicle sticks were put to good use. Once done this was what was created.

If the saying "The way to a mans heart is through his stomach" is true, than men all over the world better watch out if  seeing a lady come his way with a plate of these puppies!

If this was the outcome of Martha reading the first chapter of the book and can't wait to see what's in store as she reads on.....
To be continued  (I hope)

Meet My Grandpa

I write this blog today to commemorate my Fathers Father..... AKA My grandfather. I looked up the word "Commemorate" before actually using it in my last sentence and this is what the definitions states...

Commemorate: "call to remembrance; keep alive the memory of someone or something, as in a ceremony".

Well I'm writing today NOT because my grandfather is deceased... but because he is suffering from a horrible desease called Alzheimer's.

Alzheimer's is a type of dementia that causes problems with memory, thinking and behavior. Symptoms usually develop slowly and get worse over time, becoming severe enough to interfere with daily tasks.

It's unbelievable seeing him in front of my eyes, remembering all the Christmas  get togethers we used to share, all the Birthdays that became a tradition to share at grandma and grandpa's house, remembering when there were 4 or 5 candles on my birthday cake and growing older to eventually blowing out a forrest fire with more candles then there were cake.
I looked into my grandfathers eyes on my last visit and it kills me to think he doesn't have any idea of who I am. I would even sing songs he would compose specially for me and got no response. His body is living but with no recolection of his past.

I'm gonna remember him for who he was and to me he was a living legend. Not only am I here because of him but he did a hell of a job raising all of his children. He was a Landscaper who loved watching episodes of "I Love Lucy" after a long day of work. Loved sitting on his Lazy Boy Rocking Chair in front of his Radio (That I picked out for him at "La Curacao") listening to his oldies and never skipped a moment in which he could school me on what he was doing back in his younger days when the song he was listening to came out.

Here is my Grandfather with some memory of me and of course acting silly as he always tended to make everyone smile.

Here's my Grandfather in the current state in which he is in. Glad I could still make him crack a smile here and there yet very painful to watch him ask for his wife while she's standing next to him.
